Since the first workshop, held in Kassel in 1999, the interest in odours of plastics has continued to grow significantly. This is the 20^th Conference in this field of development organized by the Kassel University.

   A new edition of the Conference Odour and Emissions of Plastic Materials will be held in the 20^th and 21^st of March 2018 in Kassel, Germany. The aim of these group of conferences is to present the measuring instruments for evaluation odours and emissions and the new developments in industries to reduce them.

   The Department of Chemical and Pharmaceutical Science of the University of Trieste is organizing a round table together with the Order of Chemists from the Italian region of Friuli-Venezia Giulia about  the state of the science and technologies and open issues in olfactory nuisances characterization and management. This event is organized in collaboration with the Italian Association of Chemistry under the patronage of the Regional Agency of Environmental Protection (ARPA). This event will take place the 19th of February 2018 in the Auditorium of Museo Revoltella, Via Diaz 27, Trieste (Italy). The inscription is free. 

   In the opening of the eighth week of the year, during the meetings of the Working Groups of the European Committee on Standardization (CEN), a round table will be held in Trieste, to discuss and define technical standards for characterization of odours.  A workshop (mainly in Italian language) is proposed for the presentation of consolidated methods for technical characterization of olfactory nuisances and a round table (in English) for discussing open issues on the above mentioned subjects.
