The 12th VDI Conference, “Odours in the Environment,” will take place on November 24 and 25, 2027, in Hamburg, Germany, and promises to be a key gathering for odour management professionals from the German-speaking world.
The previous edition in Salzburg was hailed as a resounding success. Next year’s special theme will focus on “Odour Dispersion Modelling and the Practical Challenges in Real-World Applications.” Suppose you are an expert in odour emissions, ambient air measurements, or odour forecasting, and you know a bit of German. In that case, this is your opportunity to share your insights and engage in discussions with other professionals in the field.
The conference will cover a wide range of topics, with special focus on Challenges in odour dispersion modelling in practice, including but not limited to:

- Odour immission measurements, grid measurements, and odour plume surveys (static/dynamic)
- Odour forecasting models and their application
- Legal aspects of odour immission assessment
- Recent advances in standardisation (VDI, DIN, EN)
- Practical case studies and comparisons of methods
- Practical applications such as odour treatment technologies
