   The latest update to the ASTM E544 standard has been published as ASTM E544-24, effective from 6 September 2024. This update revises the previous ASTM E544-18 standard, which was issued in 2018. The original ASTM E544 standard was first introduced in 1999.

   ASTM E544-24 provides essential guidelines for referencing the odour intensities of odorants within the suprathreshold region, using the ASTM Odour Intensity Referencing Scale. The updated standard continues to outline two primary methods for this purpose:

   The members of AMIGO proposed celebrating "Odour Day" in some way. However, the first question was: when should we celebrate it? Several dates were discussed, as there are already "Odour Days", for example in the USA, but the history behind them was not known. In the end, December 2nd was proposed as Odour Day, as the first meeting that led to the publication of EN 13725 took place on that day in 1991.

   To celebrate Odour Day, we interviewed several leading professionals in the field.

   Another year is about to come to an end and it is time to take a look at what has happened this year in the world of odour management. As those of you who have been following us for many years already know, we traditionally dedicate a small break in our daily to-do list to make this summary, which also comes in handy for us to take a look back and see where to focus our efforts for the coming year.
